Proconsul africanus is an important early primate species from the Oligocene epoch, first named by Arthur Hopwood in 1933. Estimated to be around 18 million years old, this species has long intrigued researchers as a possible ancestor of both apes and humans. The famous palaeontologist Louis Leakey once remarked on its unique mix of ape-like and human-like traits, describing it as a side branch that offered insight into the shared characteristics of both lineages.

This is an accurate reconstruction (not an original) Proconsul africanus skull, created using CT scans and produced in high-quality resin.

Dimensions:
14cm (L) x 8cm (W) x 11cm (H)
