This high-quality, life-sized skull replica of Thylacoleo, also known as the “pouch lion,” captures the fierce presence of one of Australia’s largest extinct carnivorous marsupials. Thylacoleo lived from the late Pliocene to the late Pleistocene (approximately 2 million to 46,000 years ago) and was among the largest mammalian predators of its time on the continent. Thylacoleo carnifex approached the size and weight of a lioness, with an estimated average weight between 101 and 130 kg (223 to 287 lbs).
